Current level of US Visa Services By Country: March 2024

Learn about the current state of services at the various US embassies and consulates.

The coronavirus epidemic caused the suspension of US visa services across the world. As limitations were lifted, most US embassies and consulates resumed certain immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments. Learn about the present status of visa services in your country.



The US Embassy in Manila has resumed its ordinary visa services. Wait periods for interviews in several visa classes have increased since the epidemic began. Non-immigrant visas are now being processed by the United States Embassy and Consulates in Mexico, although applicants should anticipate extended wait periods. They may also request for an interview waiver if their visa has expired within the last 48 months.

Non-resident applicants are unable to schedule regular appointments with the US Embassy and Consulates in Mexico. Visa application fees have also gone raised (as of June 2023).

United Kingdom

The US Embassy and Consulates in the UK have started ordinary visa services, however appointments are still restricted, and there remains a backlog of applications. The Embassy is unable to answer queries by email or phone. Check back here for updates.


The United States Embassy in Jerusalem and its Tel Aviv branch office have restricted services for both immigrant and non-immigrant visas. Those who need to go to the United States in an emergency might apply for an expedited non-immigrant visa. Existing candidates will get an email if their appointment is postponed or canceled. Dominican Republic

The US Embassy in Santo Domingo is currently interviewing all types of immigrant visas. Limited regular work and student visa services have resumed. The embassy has begun in-person interviews for tourist visa applicants, prioritizing those whose appointments were canceled in 2020. Because so many individuals have filed for tourist visas, not all applicants will be given an appointment. Every week, on Wednesdays at 8 a.m., the Embassy opens fresh appointments for tourist visas. The Consulate General in Thailand have resumed regular nonimmigrant and immigrant visa providers, albeit the consulate in Chiang Mai does not currently accept immigrant visa applications. The United States Embassy in Havana will resume full immigrant visa procedures and consular services in 2023, the first time since 2017, but will only accept a limited number of emergency nonimmigrant visas. The United States Embassy in Nigeria provides immigrant visa services for all categories, but prioritizes particular situations. The US Embassy in Moscow has discontinued all immigrant visa services. The United States Embassy in Warsaw is handling immigrant visas for Russian residents. The US Embassy in Jakarta provides immigrant visa services across all categories. The United States Embassy in Jakarta and Consulate General Surabaya have started restricted appointments for all nonimmigrant visa categories. Some nonimmigrant visa applicants may be qualified for an interview waiver.
