Hungary’s visa facilitation for the Chinese comes quickly after China dropped the visa requirement for Hungarian residents. China has welcomed Hungary’s move to start granting five-year multiple-entry visas for Chinese businesses.

Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin, said that this move shows the two countries’ resolve to strengthening their ties and further improving tourism, business, and cultural exchanges.

As revealed by the Chinese government, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, stated that the country will now issue five-year multiple-entry visas to Chinese companies’ leaders that invest in the country as well as to those working with Hungarian companies.

The decision of Hungary to ease the visa issuance for this group of Chinese nationals comes right after China dropped the visa requirement for Hungarians visiting the country for short stays.

Welcoming this ease, Wenbin said that the move will help both countries to have successful cooperation in various areas.

China Just Recently Dropped Visa Condition for 6 EU Countries
Just last week, China decided to lift the need for visas for additional six European Union countries – Hungary, Austria,Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Passport holders of these six countries are able to enter China visa-free for stays of up to 15 days for tourist, business, visiting, and transit reasons.

By lifting the visa requirement for these countries, China said that it wants to ensure smooth travel. The country also wants to draw more visitors and help its travel and tourism business recover from the COVID-19 effects.

China started simplifying its visa and entry rules last year. At the end of 2023, China removed entry cards for France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia.

This move showed to be very effective in helping with the recovery of the travel and tourism industry as 118,000 foreign tourists from Italy, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, and Malaysia entered China in December 2023 alone.

The country hopes to see an even higher number of tourists this year, especially during summertime.
